Customer: Mr F Location: Halesowen, West Midlands
Property: Detached House
Staircase: Curved staircase with multiple turns and a long rail
CUSTOMER BACKGROUND
Mr F had reached the point where using their staircase was becoming increasingly difficult.
The customer wanted to remain in their halesowen home but was concerned that their staircase might be too complicated for a stairlift.
With several turns, narrow width and limited space at the bottom of the stairs, they contacted Chapter Stairlifts to find out what options were available.
THE CHALLENGE
This was a technically challenging staircase.
The rail needed to follow the staircase through multiple turns while providing a smooth and comfortable journey.
There were also several points where space needed to be carefully considered to ensure the stairlift could operate effectively.
PRODUCT INSTALLED: Access Flow X
The Flow X was chosen because it can be designed around complex staircase configurations.
The customer benefited from:
- Bespoke curved rail
- Smooth travel through multiple turns
- Compact design
- Powered swivel seat
- Comfortable seating position
- A rail specifically designed for the individual staircase
INSTALLATION PROCESS
Because of the complexity of the staircase, careful planning was required before installation.
The bespoke rail was manufactured to suit the staircase, with the installation team paying particular attention to the tighter turns and changes in direction.
The installation took approximately 4 hours, including final testing and customer instruction.
THE OUTCOME
The finished installation provided the customer with a smooth and comfortable way to travel between floors.
What initially looked like a staircase that might be “too complicated” was transformed into a practical and attractive stairlift installation.
The customer can now:

- Travel between floors safely
- Reduce physical strain
- Move around their home with greater confidence
- Remain independent
