Customer: Phil Location: Wolverhampton
Property: Detached family home
Staircase: Curved staircase with multiple turns
CUSTOMER BACKGROUND
Phil had been finding the stairs in his Wolverhampton home increasingly difficult to manage and wanted to find a way to continue using all areas of their home safely and independently.
After discussing their options with Chapter Stairlifts, the customer was clear that they wanted to explore a reconditioned stairlift rather than purchasing a brand-new system.
Keeping the cost manageable was an important consideration, but the customer still needed a curved stairlift because of the shape and layout of their staircase.
Our team discussed the available options and explained that a reconditioned stairlift could provide an excellent solution, provided the right lift was available for the staircase and the customer’s requirements.
THE PROPERTY & STAIRCASE
The customer lived in a detached property in Wolverhampton, with a curved staircase featuring several changes in direction.
A standard straight stairlift wasn’t suitable because the rail needed to follow the shape of the staircase.
The main considerations were:
- Multiple curves and changes in direction
- The available space around the staircase
- Comfortable and safe positioning for the customer
- Finding a suitable reconditioned curved stairlift
- Keeping the overall cost within the customer’s budget
Because the customer specifically wanted a reconditioned option, careful consideration was given to both the condition of the stairlift and its suitability for the staircase.
PRODUCT INSTALLED: Reconditioned, Acorn 180
Chapter Stairlifts supplied a fully reconditioned Acorn 180.
The stairlift was selected because it offered the customer the curved configuration they needed while providing a more cost-effective alternative to purchasing a brand-new curved stairlift.
Key features included:
- Curved rail designed to follow the staircase
- Comfortable seat
- Easy-to-use controls
- Folding seat and footrest
- Swivel seat for easier access
- Smooth and reliable operation
- Reconditioned stairlift with warranty
Before installation, the stairlift was carefully checked and prepared to ensure it was suitable for the customer’s requirements.
WHY A RECONDITIONED STAIRLIFT?
For this customer, purchasing a reconditioned stairlift provided an opportunity to access a quality curved stairlift at a lower cost than a new installation.
We explained that choosing reconditioned doesn’t mean compromising on safety or service.
The customer was able to benefit from:
- A more affordable alternative
- A curved stairlift suited to their staircase
- Professional installation
- Thorough testing
- Warranty cover
- Ongoing servicing and support from Chapter Stairlifts
The solution allowed the customer to address their mobility needs while remaining mindful of their budget.
INSTALLATION PROCESS
The installation took approximately 4 hours.
Before the installation, the rail and stairlift were checked to ensure they were suitable for the customer’s staircase.
Our installation engineer carefully positioned the curved rail to follow the existing staircase and made the necessary adjustments to ensure smooth operation.
Once installed, the stairlift was fully tested from the bottom to the top of the staircase.
The customer was also given a full demonstration of the controls, seat operation and safe use of the stairlift before the installation was completed.
As always, the team worked carefully and respectfully within the customer’s home and left the area clean and tidy.
THE CHALLENGE
The main challenge was finding the right balance between cost and suitability.
The customer wanted a reconditioned stairlift, but their curved staircase meant that the solution couldn’t simply be selected from a standard range of straight stairlifts.
The team needed to identify a reconditioned curved stairlift that was suitable for the staircase and met the customer’s needs.
By taking the time to assess the staircase and understand the customer’s requirements, Chapter Stairlifts was able to provide a solution that worked both practically and financially.
THE OUTCOME
The finished installation has made a significant difference to Phil’s everyday life.
Previously, using the stairs had become increasingly difficult and tiring. The stairlift now provides a comfortable and reliable way to travel between floors.
The customer can now:
- Move between floors with greater confidence
- Reduce the physical strain associated with climbing the stairs
- Access all areas of their home
- Maintain greater independence
- Feel safer using the staircase
- Remain in their home without the staircase becoming such a significant barrier
The family also has greater peace of mind knowing that the customer has a reliable way to use the stairs safely.
